Just like that !

The simplest and, before digital technology, the traditional way of making collages is to cut images and text from magazines and newspapers and then paste them into a single picture.  This example also uses one of the most straightforward themes of collage and photomontage, namely to make a simple contrast between the message given by the text and that implied in the accompanying pictures.  Iggy Pop, plainly, is and never has been an accountant.  The same can be safely said of Sean Connery (as James Bond), Eddie Izzard and Tommy Cooper.  The fifth man in the picture is a Victorian pugilist photographed by Eadweard Muybridge for his study of the human body in motion.  The reproduction here was made by just putting the framed collage onto a flatbed scanner.
