Sponsor's promotional car on the Tour de France in Brighton in July 1994
Advertising is the ubiquitous visual language of capitalism. It is also used with increasing professionalism by anti-capitalists and any group or organisation wanting to get its message across to the public. The history of advertising is by definition rich in images, though the life of most advertisements is short and, unless documented at the time, the evidence of their existence on the streets is soon lost. Images Brighton has a large and growing record of many types and styles of advertising since the early 1980s.
