Household Cavalry going up Constitution Hill, London, in January 1987
back to the first portfolio picture
A white Christmas in England is made rarer nowadays by climate change, but winter still has its visual appeal. Bare trees reveal more of both city streets and the contours of country landscapes. Though the days are shorter, their light can be clearer and brighter than at other times of the year. This is also the season when artifical light brings warmth and colour to many city centres. Images Brighton has many winter pictures from urban and rural locations since the beginning of the 1980s.
