However grand the architecture (or the architect), nothing gets built without the men in boots and hard hats. Modern techniques mean that buildings can go up with dramatic speed and there is something almost theatrical about a large construction site. The balletic movement of cranes, the chorus of bulldozers, the backdrop of scaffolding with the site's cast of workers swarming over it. There's a lot to see in building and the online library has many pictures of construction sites, work and equipment.
