Farming may not employ many people nowadays, at least in Britain, but farmers have never been more vocal. The industrialisation of agriculture is criticised on health and environmental grounds, with issues like genetic crops and food miles having implications that go far beyond national boundaries. The production of our food will continue to be the subject of strong argument and illustrating it is particularly important for an urbanised public that has little experience or knowledge of where its lunch and supper actually come from.
