Along the coasts of Britain and Europe, mainly from small ports, fishing boats go out in search of catches that are increasingly hard to find. Most of the boats, themselves also small, are often colourfully decorated and operated by men with a long family tradition in fishing. Similarly, despite the onslaught of the superstores, the retailing of fish is still largely a small-scale and traditional business. Both the fishing boats and the fishmongers, however, may not be around for much longer in their present form.
