Bookies at Brighton racecourse in September 1997
Despite having been long replaced in agriculture by the tractor, the noble horse is used by man in so many different ways. Punters bet on them at the races, police charge protestors with them at demonstrations, young girls ride joyfully on them at gymkhanas. Then there are the ubiquitous representations of horses. They ride tirelessly round carousels and stand proudly in stone in city squares with long-forgotten generals sat upon them. Images Brighton has pictures of all sorts of horses, real and sculpted, together with the world of horse shows and horse-racing.
