A farmhouse in West Wales in February 1987
Wales now has a national assembly and a national stadium, evidence of the principality's longstanding desire for more independence from England. The Welsh language survives remarkably, but the key decisions on the local economy are still more likely to be taken in London or Brussels rather than Cardiff. Though mining and steel are no longer visually dominant in the landscape of the south, small-scale farming still determines the look and feel of much of west and north Wales. Images Brighton's coverage currently includes Aberystwyth, Portmeirion, Snowdonia and West Wales and it will be enlarged in the coming year.
