About this site |

This site promotes David Gray's photography and is the gateway to an online picture library now with over 50000 interesting and useful images. All of them can searched by keyword and ordered for delivery as higher resolution files or in print form. New pictures are constantly added, along with scans of earlier work done since 1981 from a total stock of over 130000 transparencies, negatives and digital picture files. The site has been online since May 2001. |

How to use the library |

The library search page has a box in which you can put any keyword of your choice. The result is presented in pages of thumbnails, each one of which can be enlarged to a picture with an identifying filename and a brief caption. The search guide provides hints on using the library successfully and the subjects and events indexes list precise keywords and phrases to get particular images. There is also a brighton index that details coverage of the Brighton & Hove area only. |

The style and range of pictures available can be easily seen in the online portfolio gallery. This highlights 100 different subjects, places and themes with a picture and some accompanying text. Another way of finding a good selection of images is by checking through the sets of pictures published every week on the site. Each set consists of ten photographs on a particular subject and all of them can be accessed quickly from the pictures of the week index. There are now over 3000 images in the series and they cover a fascinating range of topics, places and events. The photography is now mainly high-resolution digital, though all pictures up to 2000 (and most until the end of 2003) were shot with good old-fashioned 35mm film. The cameras have been principally Contax for film and Canon and Sony for digital. The principal locations for documentary pictures have been Brighton and London, though there is also good coverage of many other places in Britain and Europe. All the photographs and text on this site are by David Gray. |

Purchasing pictures |

High quality prints and digital files cost from as little as £8 per picture. Simply email the site with the file number of the image in which you are interested and the size and type of print or digital file required. Details of price and availability will be emailed back by return and, on confirmation of your order, sent to your address. Payment on receipt can be made by cheque or money order. Reproduction rights and commissions |
|
Reproduction rights for almost all the library's pictures are available at reasonable rates and by negotiation on usage and time terms. Photographic commissions are undertaken for commercial, public sector and private clients on either a job or day rate basis. Email or telephone about rights requests and availability for commissioned photography. |
