Brighton seafront in December

Out of season seaside resorts are always popular as photographic subjects.  The trouble with Brighton in this respect is that there's something (or other) happening pretty much all through the year.  A chilly weekday afternoon in December, however, can produce the right conditions for pictures trying to capture some of the poignancy of a busy place that's become rather lonely, bare and purposeless.  The ten pictures in this week's set were all taken on Brighton seafront during the first week in December 2003.  They are in a sequence that starts just east of the Palace Pier and then travels westward as far as the knackered West Pier.
