Christmas may come just once a year, but it starts in the shops before the leaves have even left the trees.  The commercialism that has so taken over the season is as unchristian as the moneychangers in the temple and the sound of ding-dong bells is drowned out by the beeping of a million tills.  But people still love Christmas for all the old sentimental reasons as well and, despite the inevitable family rows, it is a time for coming together.  And then, when the turkey's finally cleared away and Santa's propping up the bar back at his Lapland local, a warm glow of contentment settles across the land as the Queen graciously gives way to Del Boy at the altar of the new wide-screen digital telly. The pictures in this set were taken in December 2003 in Brighton and London.
