There has been an annual run of veteran motorcycles down to Brighton every year since 1930 and, occuring in late March, it usually coincides with the first buds of spring.  Good weather is especially welcome since most of the bikes date from before the First World War.  The bikers are also themselves often of an honourable vintage and they appreciate some sunshine on the seafront for their keen inspections of each other's precious machines. The Pioneer Run is organised by the Sunbeam Motorcycle Club and the National Motorcycle Museum, which suffered a very bad fire at its Coventry premises in September 2003. It is good to see that so many fine bikes survive to make the trip down to the coast in March 2004.
