Last Saturday saw the streets of Paris taken over by the city's annual Gay Pride. The event had a more political tone this year and was renamed as The March of Pride for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transexuals and Transvestites. Quite a mouthful, in every sense of the word. Le Monde put it on the front page and the organisers estimated more than 700,000 participants. There was plenty of camp and fetish dressing, but this was also a march that celebrated and proclaimed the normality and equality of life today in Gay Paree.
