Oxford in July. The exams are over and the students are leaving town, replaced in the streets by coachloads of tourists gasping at the magnificent architecture and the price of admission now levied on visitors by almost all the colleges. Research carries on behind the walls of the innumerable libraries and laboratories, just as it has done for hundreds of years. Imperious statues look down on the traffic as it attempts to negotiate the one-way system and the rising bollards. They've seen it all before. The ten pictures in this set were taken at the beginning of July 2004.
