This week's pictures come from last Saturday's Gay Pride in Brighton. This must now be one of the best such celebrations in Europe, with an exuberant and relaxed atmosphere that attracts more people every year. Success is also helped by hot weather and the fact that, unlike London's similar event, it is completely free. Less overtly political than the Paris Pride, the Brighton parade did however include a large contingent of gay police, who were allowed for the first time to wear their uniforms. They were very well received and their sober dress made a nice contrast to the colourful exhibitionism of many other participants. Whether you were gay, straight or any of the other permutations possible in this most liberal of English towns, it really was a grand day out.
