The gloom of an English November will hopefully be lightened by the subject of this week's picture set. The humble beach hut is one of the most charming and eccentric architectural features of resorts around the coast and conjures up memories of summer sunshine and holidays. Lines of brightly coloured wooden huts face out to sea and and provide miniature homes from home for their owners. In good weather, the deckchairs can be brought out for sunbathing. A sudden shower and you can retreat inside to brew up a comforting pot of tea. You'll have to use camping gas, because huts are hardly ever connected to the mains. The council will also almost invariably ban you from sleeping there overnight. But these limitations have not prevented huts in favoured locations from changing hands for as much as £30000. You can get an awful lot of teabags for that.
