Saturday 19th March saw the latest mass demonstration on Iraq in London. Once again, many thousands of ordinary people of all ages and backgrounds marched in protest at Britain's involvement in the USA's military adventures in the Middle East. There may have been elections in Iraq, but British troops are still involved in the occupation of that desperate country. Furthermore, with Bush re-elected to the White House, there is the threat of American invasions of Iran, Syria and wherever else they feel deserves their mad version of God-fearing, Coke-drinking "democracy". A plentiful reserve of oil, of course, will also attract their unwelcome attention. The sun shone warmly on the London demo and the mood of the crowd was almost celebratory. But, unfortunately, nothing is likely to change in British policy while Tony Blair remains in Downing Street.  But for how long will that be after May's general election ?

The march ended with a rally in the sunshine in Trafalgar Square (image 2600-216)
