This week's pictures come from South London and a recent Sunday morning walk around Brixton. It is an area worthy of many walks and many sets of pictures and this particular one looks just at some of the signs and notices in the streets of this lively district. There may have been country lanes here two hundred years ago, but Brixton nowadays is as urban a place as you'd find anywhere in London. Its contemporary image is of street crime and drugs, but this is just part of the story and has been exaggerated by press coverage and memories of the riots in 1981. People of all colours and backgrounds live here, the night life attracts thousands of visitors and the market offers food from all over the world. There is, admittedly, an edginess to many of its streets, but Brixton isn't Bridlington, and thank goodness for that.
