This week's pictures come from the countryside of Yorkshire in the late summers of 1985 and 1986. The British countryside, agriculture and indeed all of us have gone through many changes since then. We've had mad cow disease, foot-and-mouth and set-aside, not to mention the reduction of farm subsidies from the EU and the cost pressures put on farmers by the UK supermarkets. There's not been much good news in the past twenty years. But, hopefully, it will take a lot more than all that to destroy the landscape of this proud region of England. The Pennines and the North York Moors are magnificent places and may they long remain so.
