The subject of this week's pictures is men and food. Somebody, almost certainly a woman, once said that all men, if they thought no one was looking, would happily eat out of bins. Speaking personally, that is pretty near the mark. But it is also undeniably true that almost all the greatest chefs have been male and that most men nowadays are taking a much greater interest in their food than ever before. A man in the supermarket will invariably fill his trolley with a more adventurous and extravagant selection of purchases than his mate and all the cliches about men and barbecues are entirely accurate. Men see their food not just as fuel but also as conquest and celebration. Maybe this will change as they do more of the daily chores traditionally done by women, but the manufacturers of pork pies probably won't have to worry for a few years yet. If you enjoy this set of pictures, you might also like to see the earlier ones that looked at men and cars and men and dogs. More will follow.
