This week's pictures take a look at gay couples as seen out and about at gay pride events in Brighton and Paris in recent years. Later this month, the first official gay marriages will be taking place in England and, unsurprisingly, Brighton is proving the most popular venue in the country. Within the lifetime of many of the wedding couples, gay love has gone from being a crime punishable by imprisonment to a relationship sanctioned and protected in law. And quite right too. Of course not everyone, gay or straight, wants to get married.  As some of this week's pictures show, dressing up and having fun together can be enjoyed with or without the authority of the registrar.
