This week's pictures are on the subject of cars as advertising. It's hardly surprising, now that advertising comes at us from every direction, that cars are being used more and more as vehicles to attract our attention as consumers. Companies and organisations customise their vehicles to promote themselves and their products. Number plates change hands for often ridiculous sums of money and even modest cars are given elaborate and expensive paint jobs. None of this is new, of course. Racing cars have been covered in their sponsors' slogans for years and you can buy books on the history of bumper stickers. It's enough to make Henry Ford turn in his grave. "You can have them in any colour you want," he said about his cars, "so long as it's black." Nowadays, a completely black car really would stand out. Now there's an idea ...
