England in the World Cup in June 2002

Today's pictures of the week are about last month's World Cup. Before the final and perhaps inevitable disappointment of the semi-final, June saw a wave of heady enthusiasm that expressed itself in houses and faces painted with the St George's flag. The six images in this set include celebration in the street after the victory against Denmark as well as the moment of defeat by Brazil.
