The streets of Paris in December 1988
Paris in the week before Christmas 1988 was as quintessentially elegant as ever and the streets of the French capital did not disappoint with their usual throng of manic drivers and haughty pedestrians. Despite the traffic, however, this is one of the most walkable cities in Europe at any time of the year. As the birthplace of photography, it is not surprising that Paris remains classically photogenic, even if the average Parisian is unlikely to offer a smile to the camera.
