Iraq protest signs past and present
Within days, there is likely to be an Anglo-American attack on Saddam Hussein's Iraq and nobody can be sure of what will follow afterwards. The UN is divided on the issue and, in any case, its decisions may be ignored by the Bush administration in the USA. Here in Britain, as around the world, there is strong popular opposition to an invasion of Iraq that is not fully backed by the United Nations. Apart from rallies and marches, signs of protest against war are highly visible in the form of graffiti and posters. Today's pictures of the week record some of these signs in Brighton and London, together with examples of similar protests at the time of the first Gulf War back in 1991.
