Mosaics in public places
Mosaics are one of the oldest and most durable of the decorative arts and they are often found in religious and municipal buildings, as well as being used for advertising on the exteriors of buildings. The current trend is for brighter colours and the use of new types of material, though the recent Brighton mosaic shown below (and in the next picture) successfully combines the older tradition of construction with a modern style. Other examples from Brighton, London, Guernsey and Normandy make up the rest of this set.
