Busking festival on Brighton seafront in May 1985
Back in the early summer of 1985, Brighton saw one of the first organised festivals of street entertainment, then known more familiarly as busking. It was part-sponsored by British Rail (remember them !) and took place on a stage on the beach and along the lower promenade. The acts were mainly musical and the atmosphere was relaxed and informal, with an audience that mixed trendy young people with more traditional seaside daytrippers.
The stage was on the beach in front of the Old Ship Hotel and it was part-sponsored by British Rail (image 93-2)
