Photography and photographers

"You press the button, we do the rest."  Thus did George Eastman cleverly advertise his first hand-held Kodak camera in 1888.  If only it were ever as easy !  Before you press the button, of course, you've got to have the camera, make sure it's with you, remember to have some film in it and, not least, find something interesting to point it at.  Digital might seem easier nowadays, but there's always the batteries, the memory, the menu options etc etc.  Not to mention the lens cap.  Taking a decent picture is no more guaranteed by the possession of fancy equipment than a good novel is easier to write with a gold pen or a trendy lap-top.  This week's set of images takes a wry but affectionate look at the world of the snapper with ten pictures taken in Brighton, London and Cornwall between 1982 and 2002.
